It’s easy to take things for granted, especially when they go well. The same is true for community celebrations like Steamboat Days, which just wrapped up its 72nd year in Winona. Despite heavy rain on Saturday evening, this year’s celebration was one of the best ever. But it doesn’t happen on its own. The success is largely due to the members of the Steamboat Days Festival Committee, and other volunteers, who put in countless hours year-round to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy. As this year’s Harbormaster, I want to publicly thank all those (too many to mention by name) who sacrifice their time, energy, and talents for our community festival. Please know the work you do is appreciated, and the smiles I saw on the faces of both kids and adults during Steamboat Days is validation that your efforts were successful. Also, thanks to all who participated in this year’s festivities in any way. We hope you continue to have fun and support our local celebration. And for those of you that haven’t attended a Steamboat Days event in a while, give it a try next year. I think you’ll be amazed at what these Steamboat Days Festival Committee members accomplish!
